An off-duty Rock County Sheriff’s sergeant is being credited with helping get a drunk driving suspect off the road. The sheriff’s office reports the sergeant saw a vehicle swerving from the centerline to the ditch while driving east on West U.S. Highway 14 by North Eagle Road a little before 10:00 p.m. Sunday. The sergeant called the Rock County Communication Center and the responding on-duty officer also observed the swerving vehicle. A traffic stop ended in the arrest of 57-year-old Craig Kruger of Janesville. A sheriff’s office release reports Kruger admitted to drinking beer at a bar and was coming home from Verona. A check of Kruger’s driving record shows he has six prior OWI related convictions.
