A Walworth County Sheriff’s Deputy is on administrative duty after a fatal shooting. The Sheriff’s Office reports the deputy was pursuing a vehicle around 10:00 p.m. Thursday on Highway 12/67 and Potter Road following the report of a reckless driver. Authorities say during the pursuit, deputies attempted to stop the vehicle numerous times. When the vehicle did come to a stop, and a deputy had exited his squad car, the driver drove toward the deputy. A written release from the sheriff’s office says the deputy discharged his service weapon and struck the driver. The driver and sole occupant of the vehicle died at the scene. A number of outside law enforcement agencies are assisting in the investigation.
