A tobacco sales compliance check among Janesville retailers may indicate some improvement. Youth2Youth 4 Change Director Debbie Fischer says only five, of more than 50 retailers checked Thursday night were caught selling to underage customers. The five businesses cited were 5 Points Grocery on West Milwaukee Street, Smokers World on East Milwaukee Street, X-treme Smoke and Kwik Trip on Milton Avenue, and B-P on Center Avenue. Fischer says the results are better than last year, and she doesn’t believe any of the retailers were intentionally selling to minors. This is why the group sends out educational information to retailers four-times a year to help them better understand how to avoid sales to underage customers.
