An Elkhorn man is identified as the victim of last Thursday’s fatal shooting by a Walworth County sheriff’s deputy.
According to a news release, the deputy who shot 38-year-old Sean A. Dutcher was 28-year-old Peter Wisnefsky who has worked for the sheriff’s office since February 2016.
Wisnefsky has been placed on administrative duty, which is standard practice after an officer-involved shooting.
Dutcher had been driving an SUV and had been reported as a reckless driver originating in Waukesha County last Thursday night.
Walworth County Sheriff’s deputies chased Dutcher’s vehicle and he eventually pulled over about 10:00 p.m.
According to the news release, Wisnefsky got out of his squad; Dutcher drove toward the deputy, and that’s when Wisnefsky fired and hit Dutcher.
Dutcher died at the scene.
