A town of Madison man who ran in the Republican primary for the 1st Congressional District seat is under arrest for trying to obtain radioactive material.
The FBI says, 30-year-old Jeremy Ryan is charged with attempted possession of radioactive material with intent to cause death, which carries a maximum sentence of life in prison.
According to a news release, in March and October, Ryan tried to buy a lethal dose of a radioactive substance via the internet to kill someone.
The intended victim was not named nor was the type of radioactive material.
Ryan was one of six candidates for the GOP nomination, which Bryan Steil of Janesville won.
