Beloit man out on bail accused of beating up girlfriend

A 27-year-old Beloit man is facing a number of charges after police say he beat up and choked his girlfriend.
According to the criminal complaint Akram Tariq Akbar hit and choked his live-in girlfriend numerous times between November 9th and 11th after she told him she wanted to break up.
The victim told Beloit Police Akbar also threatened her with a knife and a broken table leg.
Court records indicate that at the time of the incident Akbar was out on a signature bond in relation to a previous domestic abuse case in July.
Akbar faces a total of eight new charges including battery, disorderly conduct, strangulation, and bail jumping.
