Criminal case of Beloit infant death hits snag on evidence testing

The case of a Beloit man charged in the death of his infant son hits a snag as the prosecution and defense argue over the testing of evidence.
Defense attorneys for 33-year-old DeAnthony Hodges of Beloit want evidence in the case, including brain matter, tested by an independent medical lab, while the prosecution is concerned about letting the specimens out of their custody.
Hodges is charged with first-degree reckless homicide in connection with his infant son’s death.
The criminal complaint says medical officials determined the infant’s head trauma was consistent with being shaken or attacked.
A Rock County Judge was unable to decide on a compromise at their hearing, and the two sides will have their medical officials meet to try and find a solution.
