The second of four Beloit men accused in the drive-by shooting death of a young boy nearly two years ago takes a plead deal in Rock County Court.
Rock County Judge Michael Haaksensen presided over 24-year-old Eric Salazar-Mota plea hearing Thursday morning in Rock County Court where he plead guilty to a charge of party to second degree reckless homicide.
Salazar-Mota was originally charged with party to the crime of first degree intentional homicide. Other charges that were dismissed but read in stem from four other cases in Rock County Court dating back to back to 2014.
Salazar-Mota’s co-defendant Sergio Ortiz plead guilty to first degree reckless homicide in July of last year and was sentenced in November to 40 years in prison.
Austin Ramos Junior was shot to death while riding in the backseat of his father’s vehicle on January 22nd of 2016.
Two other defendants Hugo Martinez and Isaac W. Torres have plea hearings scheduled in the coming month.
Salazar-Mota faces up to 25 years in prison at sentencing on March 8th.
