With no end in sight for the partial government shutdown, Wisconsin Senator Ron Johnson is taking steps to help essential furloughed government workers earn their checks.
He tells Your Talk Show on WCLO he’s introducing the Shutdown Fairness Act and hopes the bill will pass as easily as the Government Employee Fair Treatment Act did last week, which guaranteed back pay for government employees when the shutdown ends.
Johnson thinks his new bill could be the first step toward resume negotiations by putting pressure on Democrats.
During the shutdown, the Republican will be donating his paychecks to charities in Oshkosh.
