An armed standoff in Janesville Friday afternoon ends without shots fired.

Police were dispatched to a report of an armed man in his 60s at a residence on the 600 block of East Milwaukee Street.

Officers with SWAT gear surrounded the home from all sides.

Sergeant Chad Pearson says 66-year-old Byron D. Long went in and out of his house multiple times before working his way to a detached garage and giving himself up without incident.

Police say Long was intoxicated and distraught about some personal issues, arguing with family in the house and pointing the gun at them.

He’s facing charges of recklessly endangering safety and intoxicated use of a firearm.

A neighbor across the street captured the arrest on video.
