Pipe bursts, fills entryway with steam at Janesville Performing Arts Center

A play rehearsal at the Janesville Performing Arts Center is interrupted by a slippery situation in the lobby.
Director Steve Shaw was holding rehearsal for “The Sunshine Boys” when one of his actresses noticed the entryway filling up with steam at around 7:45 Thursday night.
Shaw says a pipe in the heating element near the outside doors started spraying water into the lobby, setting off an automatic fire alarm.
Firefighters were able to stop the flow and limit the damage.
Water leaked through the walls into the main lobby and gallery area, and JPAC Executive Director Nathan Burkhart suspects the cold was to blame.
Walmart in Janesville was also forced to close Thursday because of a broken pipe.
