Commuters waiting for Interstate 39/90 to open up to three lanes will have to stay patient in 2019.
Project Communications Manager Steven Theisen says they’ll start work between Madison and Edgerton and hope to open that portion up to three lanes in each direction by the end of 2019.
Meanwhile, in Janesville, they will have to close on and off ramps for months at a time in the upcoming spring and summer.
The six-lane traffic won’t open south of Edgerton until the end of 2020.
Later on this year, crews will turn their attention to the stateline area and reconstruct the I-43 interchange near Beloit.
Most of the construction is currently on hold for the winter months.
