The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention reports suicide rates are on the increase.
The Rock County Human Services Department is working to reduce the number of local victims.
County Health Division Manager Greg Winkler says a $20,000 state grant is helping train more staff in prevention.
About one-hundred staff members have already gone through training to better identify at-risk individuals.
Winkler says staff work everyday with people considering hurting themselves, and the training folds into an international effort known as Zero-Suicide.
