A new Residential Exterior Improvement Program in Milton will help certain homeowners pay for upgrades to the outside of their houses.
The city council approved the program Tuesday night for homes in a tax incremental district that are at least 25 years old, with an owner that has lived in the home for at least five years, and the assessed value of the home can not be over 125 percent of the average assessed home value in Milton, which comes out to around $190,000 for 2019.
The program offers eligible residents a 50 percent match on their visible upgrades to their house, up to $5,000.
The city is capping the program at $25,000 total per year.
Milton has done a similar Façade Grant Program for businesses in the community for over a decade.
The city has not determined an official start date for the program, which will approve projects on a first-come, first-serve basis.
