The suspect accused in Janesville’s first homicide of 2019 appears in Rock County Court Wednesday morning.
Judge Barbara McCrory ordered commitment to a mental health facility after reviewing the results of a competency evaluation for 39-year-old Lucas Stuhr.
Stuhr is accused of shooting 41-year-old Clifford Grice of Janesville in the head multiple times last week because he was upset that the victim had begun a relationship with his ex-girlfriend.
The competency evaluation indicates that Stuhr suffers from major depressive disorder as well as cannabis use disorder.
The doctor who examined Stuhr indicated that he could regain his competency to stand trail within 12 months with proper treatment and medication.
