Local restaurants are bracing for the impact of the food delivery app EatStreet launching in Janesville.
Restaurants that already offered their own delivery, like Mac’s Pizza Shack, are keeping an eye out to see if the added delivery options elsewhere will hurt their business.
Mac’s Pizza Shack owner Erika Bickle says they’ve worked with EatStreet over the last few years to take orders, but that’s as far as they were willing to go in the partnership.
Bickle says the app has helped generate more business for them, but she had concerns about letting their drivers deliver her product.
EatStreet says they’re hiring 50 drivers who will be staffed, part time employees and not just independent contractors like many similar companies.
The food delivery service officially launched Tuesday in Janesville, with their app currently listing 23 restaurants in the area.
EatStreet is offering free delivery with their app for the next 30 days.
They donated $2,000 to ECHO and volunteered at the organization Tuesday afternoon as part of their “Haulin’ Ass for Hunger” campaign.
