The City of Janesville swears in their new fire chief.
Ernest Rhodes was welcomed by City Manager Mark Freitag and a room full of first responders Wednesday afternoon.
Freitag called him the “right person at the right time with the right skill set” for the position.
Rhodes was complimentary of the fire department he’s taking over, and he’s hoping to be able to invest more resources into the community to help keep everyone safer.
He was the fire chief of the West County EMS and Fire Protection District in Missouri for five years until 2017. He left for a job as the state director of the Missouri Emergency Management Agency.
Rhodes is facing an active discrimination lawsuit from his position, but he whole-heartedly denied the allegations.
