The School District of Janesville is looking at creating a new athletic coordinator position to oversee the overall athletic programs.
Assistant superintendent of administrative and human services Scott Garner says most districts of Janesville’s size have full-time athletic coordinators and even full-time athletic directors in each high school.
Currently, both Janesville high schools and the three middle schools all have part time athletic directors who are also teachers, and they would report to this new athletic coordinator.
The district’s policy, personnel and curriculum committee voted this week to send the proposal for the new position to the full school board to decide on.
Garner says the position would not officially be a position, so the coordinator would earn $75,000 to $90,000 per year.
