The Rock County Medical examiner releases the name of the 45-year-old Brodhead man killed last weekend in a single-vehicle crash.
Rock County Sheriff’s deputies were called to a single-car crash just before 6:30 p.m. last Friday in the 14600 block of Highway 81.
Matthew A. Messel was driving a Ford F-150 westbound on Highway 81 when he strayed onto the gravel shoulder. He then swerved back onto the road and crossed the road into the ditch, where the truck flipped end over end.
Messel was ejected from the vehicle. Witnesses told police the truck had been swerving before the crash.
Messel was transported to a local hospital where he died Monday.
