Janesville police arrest five teens in connection with a stolen vehicle found in the parking lot of the Janesville Mall.
Sergeant Brian Vaughn said officers were first notified of the vehicle driving away without paying for gas from the Lions Quick Mart.
They located the vehicle, unattended, the mall parking lot and waited for the suspects to return.
According to a news release, five teenagers returned to the vehicle with a puppy they also stole from Furry Babies in the mall, and they fled the scene when they saw police waiting.
Sergeant Vaughn said three of them fled to Woodman’s and Goodwill, while two others were tracked down to KFC.
The vehicle was reported stolen out of the Madison area, and Dane County police were also seeking the suspects.
The news release says the five juveniles are all ages 14-16, and one faces an additional charge of possession of THC.
