Mitchell and Milwaukee Streets in Janesville will temporarily close for construction

Construction will temporarily close two streets in Janesville next week.

The Wisconsin Department of Transportation announced Milwaukee Street will close under the I-39/90 bridge at 6:00 a.m. on Tuesday, May 7 and reopen at 6:00 p.m. om Thursday, May 9.

Crews will be removing and replacing the old southbound interstate bridge.

The City of Janesville also announced that a portion of Mitchell Street between South Oakhill Avenue and Monterey Lane will be closed from Friday, May 3rd through Friday, May 17 for utility improvements.

The street will be repaved later in the year.

Residents will still have local access to their driveways and the businesses within the closure.

The city will also be doing some resurfacing work on the following streets between May 6 and May 15, but they will remain open to through traffic:

  • Greenwood Drive (Morningside Drive to Wright Road)
  • Excalibur Drive (Randolph Road to Curry Lane)
  • Meadowlark Drive (Randolph Road to La Mancha Drive)
  • Doubletree Drive (Randolph Road to La Mancha Drive)
  • La Mancha Drive (Wright Road to Doubletree Drive)
  • Shannon Drive (Milwaukee Street to Randolph Road)
  • Valencia Drive (Wuthering Hills Drive to Bordeaux Drive)
  • South Wyck Drive (Wuthering Hills Drive to Lyndhurst Drive)
  • Brunswick Lane (Princeton Road to Margate Drive)
