The court case of the suspect in a Beloit homicide hits a snag.
38-year-old Jacob Davenport was scheduled for a preliminary hearing on Friday, but it had to be delayed due to a potential conflict of interest with his attorney, Michael Murphy.
Assistant District Attorney Rich Sullivan revealed Murphy may have represented or be currently representing one of the witnesses in the case.
Court Commissioner Stephen Meyer agreed to schedule a status update on the potential conflict for Thursday, May 16.
Davenport was arrested in April in Texas, and extradited to Rock County, in connection with the shooting of 28-year-old James Tomten, who was found dead in his vehicle in Beloit back in February.
