Town of Beloit police rescue human trafficking victim, arrest suspect

A Beloit woman is safe after Town of Beloit police rescue her from being held against her will.
Police Chief Ron Northrup says she was being forced to commit sexual acts for money, with the suspect threatening bodily harm.
According to a press release, they recovered her from the Town of Beloit residence Thursday and arrested 32-year-old Marktana C. Ruffin on suspicion of human trafficking.
Northrup says the location was not the residence of either the suspect or victim.
Court records show Ruffin has a previous conviction for false imprisonment from 2018
The investigation is still ongoing, and the chief did not rule out the possibility of additional suspects or victims.
