The Beloit Police and Fire Commission will begin the search for a new fire chief with Brad Liggett moving on to take the same position in Freeport, Illinois.
Assistant Beloit Fire Chief Dan Pease will take over as Interim Fire Chief once Liggett officially leaves July 5.
Beloit Interim Human Resources Director Elizabeth Krueger says she’s drafting a request for proposals to send out to the recruiting agencies.
The Freeport City Council is scheduled to vote on his contract on July 1 with an expected start date of July 8.
Krueger says the RFP will likely go out in the next week or so, and the commission would begin interviewing candidates a few weeks after that point.
Liggett served as Beloit Fire Chief for 16 years and totaled more than 30 in the department.
