Beloit sex offender charged with removing GPS tracker

A convicted sex offender from Beloit is charged with removing his court-ordered GPS bracelet.
33-year-old John C. Johnson of Beloit is charged in Rock County Court with tampering with a global positioning system tracking device.
Johnson was convicted of three counts of possession of child pornography in 2015 and was just released from prison in December of last year.
As a condition of his supervised release, Johnson is required to wear a GPS bracelet for life.
According to the criminal complaint, on March 14th Johnson removed his bracelet and was later arrested for driving under the influence in Illinois.
If convicted Johnson faces up to three years in prison.
