A number of homes in the area of Park Avenue, Wisconsin Avenue, Clary Street, and White Avenue in Beloit are evacuated due to a gas leak.
Beloit Police say late Tuesday night an officer attempted to stop a vehicle at Henry and Wisconsin Avenues for a traffic violation.
The driver did not stop and continued at a low rate of speed so the officer terminated the pursuit. A short time later the suspect vehicle crashed into another vehicle at Harrison and Woodward Avenues.
The suspect vehicle then hit a gas line on Harrison Avenue while the other vehicle landed on it’s roof.
Both drivers were taken to the hospital. The suspect driver, a 29-year-old Beloit man was taken into custody for fleeing an other violations.
Residents were allowed to return to their homes just before 4:00 Wednesday morning.
