When Lindsey Jones heard that Janesville police K-9 Fred was diagnosed with melanoma, she knew she had to help.
The young owner of The Suites pet boarding followed in her grandmother’s footsteps and decided to host a fundraiser.
Jones set up the Backyard BBQ Bash, which runs from 5:00 to 8:00 p.m. Friday at their facility on 1717 Holiday Drive.
The event will feature the Fire and Knife BBQ food truck and beer served by Rock County Brewing Company.
Jones says Fred and members of the Janesville Police Department will be in attendance.
The public is allowed to bring their dogs, but they must be well behaved and come with proof of rabies vaccine.
Fred was diagnosed with melanoma earlier this year developing a limp. The German Shepard/Belgian Malinois mix had a procedure to remove a portion of the pad from his left hind paw, which tested positive for cancer.
