The trial of a former Janesville priest, charged with the sexual assault of a child under the age of 16, is underway in Jefferson County. Prosecutors told a jury Monday, 66-year-old Reverend William A. Nolan took advantage of an alter boy’s sexual and religious insecurities before assaulting him in Fort Atkinson. The defense contends the boy’s statements include inconsistencies and his story is made-up. The trial is expected to last all week. Nolan faces a maximum sentence of 40-years on each of six felony counts.
