A 29-year-old Illinois man is under arrest in connection with a fatal hit and run that occurred Wednesday morning in Janesville.
The Rock County Sheriff’s office says shortly after 8:00 a.m. a motorcyclist was turning westbound onto Highway 11 from the Interstate off ramp when they were run over by a westbound semi that had failed to stop for a red light.
The semi fled the area and the motorcyclists was pronounced dead at the scene.
The Sheriff’s Office says the semi involved in the hit and run was recovered with the help of witness statements and authorities in Illinois.
The driver of the semi, Branko Jovanovic of Lyons, Illionis turned himself into the Rock County Sheriff’s Office and he’s scheduled to make his first appearance in Rock County Court Friday.
The man killed was identified Thursday by the Rock County Medical Examiner’s Department as 59-year-old Michael L. Bacon of Whitewater.
