A 55-year-old Fort Atkinson man pleads guilty in Jefferson County Court to four felony counts of filing fraudulent income tax returns and one count of felony theft.
According to the criminal complaint David W. Zehnder knowingly filed at least 83 false Wisconsin income tax returns while he operated the tax preparation firm A-Z Productivity Inc.
Zehnder is accused of overstating deductions on his customers’ returns, and also stealing a portion of their refunds by diverting a portion of the money into his own accounts.
Zehnder faces more than 30 years in prison at his sentencing on November 19th.
