The other bridge across the Rock River in downtown Janesville is nearing completion.
JoLynn Burden with ARISEnow says the Blain Gilbertson Family Heritage Pedestrian Bridge will be poured and set in yet this fall.
Once the structure is in place, Burden says they’ll then need to get the planned artwork in place, which will feature a vaulted 30-foot arch.
She expects them to wait to open up the bridge to pedestrians until the spring when all the pieces are in place for a grand opening.
The bridge will connect the west-side town square and festival street with a pavilion planned for 2020 on the river’s east side.
Construction on the pedestrian bridge started at the end of June.
