Janesville homicide trial set for next week

A Janesville man accused of homicide is moving forward with his trial next week.
22-year-old Julian Collazo had his final pre-trial hearing Thursday, where he rejected a plea deal for reduced charges.
He faces a single count of first-degree intentional homicide, and the district attorney’s office offered an agreement to plead to first-degree reckless homicide and armed robbery, which would have removed the possibility of a potential life sentence.
Collazo is accused of stabbing 43-year-old Christine Scaccia-Lubeck to death in December of 2017.
The defense is arguing Nicole Kazar was the one who committed the stabbing.
A witness who says Kazar confessed to “getting away with murder” is set to testify in the trial.
Jury selection and opening arguments are set to start Monday morning for the week-long trial.
