Beloit police are investigating a shooting that occurred in the 1200 block of Vine Street just before 6:30 p.m. Wednesday night.
A 19-year-old male victim was transported to Mercy Hospital in Janesville, where he was last known to be in critical-stable condition.
Police are looking for a suspect who fled from the area and are asking residents with security cameras to check their footage from around that time.
Blotter on the police scanner indicated five shots may have been fired before the victim took off from a vehicle on foot.
Police brought a K-9 unit on scene but do not have a suspect in custody.
They believe they are seeking a male who likely knew the victim.
