With a wintry mix in the forecast all week, city of Janesville Operations Director John Whitcomb is closely watching the forecast. Whitcomb says the city’s trucks have been converted for winter snow plowing, but he doesn’t expect to need them yet this week. He says the more likely need is for salt to be used on the roads, but they won’t be pre-treating because of the likely hood of rain. Whitcomb had been facing a bit of a budget shortfall after heavy snows earlier in the year, but says a couple weeks ago the city council approved $300 thousand in advance of likely snow events yet this year.
