Person of interest in Beloit homicide waives extradition

A Beloit man sought in connection with a fatal shooting last week on Vine Street waives his extradition hearing, setting the stage for transporting him to Rock County.

According to the Winnebago State’s Attorney’s Office 30-year-old Chet A. Hummell will be transported from the Winnebago County Jail where he’s been held since October 25th following his arrest by Rockford police to the Rock County Jail.

He will be extradited to Rock County to face prosecution for the possession of a firearm by a felon charge following an arrest warrant being filed on Tuesday.

Hummell was named a person of interest in the shooting on October 26th by Beloit police while upgraded charges have yet to be filed.

Wednesday, the Rock County Medical Examiner’s Office confirmed that 19-year-old Enrique A. Ramirez of Beloit, died as a result of homicidal firearm-related trauma.
