The town of Beloit board of supervisors and the Beloit city council both vote to approve the 208 Sewer and Water agreement after years of renegotiations.

Town Administrator Gene Wright said the original $5.86 million sewer and water extension put in by the township in 2018 will now be serviced by the city of Beloit for roughly 300 homes.

The residents in the 208 district will pay the city of Beloit’s residential rate, which will still be billed to them by the township.

The agreement includes special assessments and a memorandum of understanding between the two municipalities for future changes to the program.

Wright said one of the factors in coming to a new agreement was agreeing to built-in penalties against the township if they move to incorporate in the future.

Town Engineer Frank McKearn said the agreement will also allow the state to sign off on the town’s Clean Water Fund Loan for the project, which is expected to save the township hundreds of thousands of dollars.
