The Rock County Medical Examiner’s Office releases the name of the 24-year-old Belvidere, Illinois man who killed earlier this week when he was run over by a tractor in the town of Porter.
The Rock County Sheriff’s Office says first responders were dispatched to a farm field in the 7500 block of North Fox Road just after 1:00 Tuesday morning on the report that a person had been run over by a large piece of farm equipment.
Investigation determined that an 18-year-old Garden Prairie, Illinois man was driving a tractor when Daniel L. DeRose Jr. attempted to exit the moving tractor. DeRose slipped on some mud on the ladder, fell to the ground, and was run over by the tractor’s rear tire.
First responders found DeRose unresponsive and not breathing. He was pronounced dead at the scene.
Preliminary results from an autopsy confirm that DeRose died from injuries sustained as a result of the farm accident.
