Hit and run suspect bound over for trial

The semi-truck driver accused in a September 25th fatal hit-and-run of a motorcyclist on Janesville’s west side is headed to trial. During a preliminary hearing in Rock County Court Monday, Sheriff’s Deputy Beau Douglas testified another trucker witnessed the crash on Highway 11 at the Interstate. Douglas testified the witness was stopped at a red light as the suspect drove through, and other vehicles had to swerve to avoid the semi. The motorcycle however struck the side of the semi, and the rear tires ran over the operator. 29-year-old Branko Jovanovic is accused in the death of 59-year-old Michael L. Bacon. The criminal complaint indicates Jovanovic was late to deliver a shipment to the Dollar General Distribution Center in Janesville. An arraignment date of December 6th is set.
