The Governor signs three bills authored by State Representative Amy Loudenbeck of Clinton. The new laws all address ongoing public safety issues. The Republican says unaccompanied, homeless 17-year-olds will now be allowed admission to shelter facilities or transitional living programs without need for approval from their parents. Loudenbeck says another bill could keep more people out of emergency rooms by allowing ambulance crews to offer more primary care services to Medicare beneficiaries following a 911 call. The third bill signed into law will help update emergency dispatch centers to better utilize information from cell phones.
