The Janesville-Beloit area may have one of the hottest housing markets in the country. Rock-Green Realtors Association President Colleen Nelson attributes the trend to the economic challenges following the demise of the General Motors manufacturing plant. Nelson says people were scared then, and waited to get into the market. She says the challenge now is too much demand for the supply. Realtor-dot-com ranks the Janesville-Beloit market 7th nationally, behind such places like Fort Wayne, Indiana, Rochester, New York, and Colorado Springs, Colorado. The latest Wisconsin Realtors Association reports the number of Rock County home sales may have declined over the last year, but the median sales price has risen more than 15 %. In Green County prices are up almost 10%.
