The local unemployment rate dips a bit in October.  The Department of Workforce Development reports the unemployment rate for Janesville is 3.3%, down .3% from the month before.  Beloit’s unemployment rate for October was 3.7%, down .4% from the month before.  The unemployment rate for both communities was up more than .5% from one-year ago however. The state line area has some of the lowest unemployment in the state.  The report also indicates Lafayette County ranks the lowest unemployment in the state with just 2% jobless in October.  Green County comes in fourth at 2.2%.  Rock County ranks further down the list at 3.2%.  All area counties enjoyed a reduction in the unemployment rate from the month before, but a modest increase from last year.
