Lake Leota Bridge in Evansville is temporarily closed.
City officials were made aware of a retaining wall sinking along Allen Creek y the Lake Leota Dam earlier this week.
Upon inspection more sections of the wall appeared to be undermined. The damage could lead to potential erosion of the ground supporting the bridge and road.
In anticipation of the rain Thursday city officials took precautionary measures Wednesday by closing the park bridge and opening the sluice gate to lower the lake.
Th closure is temporary and the city hopes to have the problem repaired by the end of next week.
