New advisory council giving students more voice in Beloit school district

Sixteen Beloit Memorial High School students are now representing their classmates at the table with Superintendent Stanley Munro.
He formed a student advisory council in the Beloit school district, which met for the first time last week.
The council is made up of four students from each grade level who can serve two-year terms.
The students were selected and appointed by the faculty at the high school.
District Chief of Communications Monica Krystopa recognized the members during this week’s school board meeting.
Munro is looking for the council to build collaboration and communication between his office and the student body.
The president of the inaugural student advisory council, Isabella Moore, said students don’t always feel like they’re voices are being heard in the district.
