The School District of Beloit Turner notified parents Thursday morning about a bus incident involving a student’s bicycle.

According to the email, a student and the bus both proceeded into the intersection of South Bartells Drive and Inman Parkway.

The district said the bus thought they had the right of way and did not see the student on the bicycle. As the bus pulled forward, the student realized they might get hit and got off the bike while it moved into the intersection.

The bus struck the bicycle and ran over it with its front right tire. The email to parents said the student was not struck or injured in the incident.

The district reminded parents to take extreme caution in the pick up and drop off areas around the school.

It also said staff are working with the Town of Beloit to install sidewalks on Inman Parkway between Prairie Avenue and Riverside Drive, with construction set to begin next July.
