One of the two finalists for the position of police chief in Clinton removes his name from consideration, and another man is selected to be a second finalist.
Village officials received a call from finalist candidate Chief Joseph Hallman of the University of Wisconsin-Platteville Police Department who removed himself from consideration for personal reasons.
The village then contacted Major Danny Rains from the Northwestern Medicine Public Safety Department, who agreed to be a finalist candidate.
The two finalists, Major Danny Rains and Deputy Chief of Detectives Michael Schultz, attended a public forum Monday where residents could meet them and ask questions.
Schultz is the deputy chief of detectives for the Winnebago County Sheriff’s Department in Illinois.
Clinton Police Chief David Hooker has said his last day on the job will be January 2nd.
