DCI identifies cops who shot man in Beloit

The Wisconsin Department of Justice Division of Criminal Investigations releases the names of the three Beloit Police officers who shot and killed a man Tuesday.

The three who are currently on administrative duty include Patrol Officer John McMahon who’s been with the department 29 years, Sergeant Ryan Flanagan who’s been with the department 19 years, and Detective Nathan Adams who’s been with the department for 14 years.

Beloit Police say officers were chasing a stolen vehicle and heard shots in the area just before shooting 23-year-old Montay Penning of Janesville in the 1800 block of Harrison Avenue Tuesday. Police say Penning was armed.

DCI is continuing to collect evidence and determine the facts of this incident and will turn over investigative reports to the Rock County District Attorney when the investigation concludes.
