The Beloit School Board determined over $90,000 of pay increases for eight administrators in the School District of Beloit were not properly approved.
They voted unanimously Tuesday night to rescind those raises effective immediately.
“It’s my feeling that there was no ill intent meant by anybody, but it’s truly that we did not follow process and procedure as stated in our own information,” school board member Jeff Klett said. “They were not brought forth individually.”
It wasn’t clear from the school board discussion whether or not the pay raises were originally approved by the board.
District officials previously said the salary increases were authorized in the district’s organizational chart the board approved last spring.
The affected administrators will not have to pay back any of their increased salary, but the board decision reduces their pay raises down to the standard 2.44 percent cost of living increase employees received.
Klett said the district administration is allowed to bring the pay raises back to the board in the future to seek proper individual approval.
