A few dozen protesters gathered outside of the Beloit police department Tuesday evening in response to the police-involved shooting death of 23-year-old Montay S. Penning.
Reverend Michael Bell spoke on behalf of Penning’s family, who just want answers to what happened on December 10.
Beloit police said Penning was observed to have a gun when three police officers shot and killed him in the 1800 block of Harrison Avenue.
The Wisconsin Department of Justice is investigating the incident and told Penning’s family it could be another 30 days before they release more information.
Bell believes the use of deadly force left Penning judged and tried on the streets rather than getting justice through the court system.
