A Beloit man is facing charges after being accused of leading police on a high speed chase through downtown Beloit on Wednesday.
According to the criminal complaint filed in Rock County Court, 23-year-old Jaivion S. Peacock is charged with attempting to flee or elude an officer as a repeater and obstructing an officer as a repeater after he fled from a Rock County Sheriff’s Office deputy in the area of Sixth Street and Poole Court.
Peacock is accused of fleeing down Bluff Street at speeds in excess of 55 mph before running a red light at Liberty Avenue and Bluff Street and a stop sign at Portland Avenue going in excess of 70 miles per hour.
The complaint said Peacock hit a utility pole at the intersection of Locust and Bluff before fleeing on foot. He was arrested after a brief foot pursuit that ended near an apartment building in the 300 block of Grand Avenue.
