Janesville robbery suspect turns himself in after crossing paths with chaplain

A Janesville man turns himself in for armed robbery after inadvertently crossing paths with a chaplain at the Rock County Jail.
34-year-old Edward Brown Jr. made his initial court appearance Monday, facing one count of armed robbery for allegedly holding up the Stop-N-Go gas station on East Racine Street in Janesville.
Police say Brown happened to be at the Rock County Jail picking up some of his property on Friday when he saw a chaplain in the lobby.
The chaplain talked to him about forgiveness, and Brown decided to turn himself in.
He and an accomplice are accused of stealing money from the gas station, using his fingers to make it appear as though he had a gun in his pocket.
Police said the two men originally went to the Lions Gas Station on the corner of Main Street and Racine Street, but Brown said he “chickened out.”
